Our photography is artsy & documentary (hence the business name) kinda like us. We are a package deal striving for excellence by pushing one another artistically and creatively with our photography and design skills. Our formal educations in the Arts have helped in honing our skills in this trade, however our first hand, professional experiences, over the years, have been invaluable with creating 'our style'. Each wedding that is commissioned by the studio is documented by both of us together working as a team to tell your story. You will have 2 sets of eyes, the male & female perspectives covering your special day and we have the pleasure of telling your story side by side. We love you for it! Please take note, we are not like your mother's photographer. We are different, but in a good way. The images we provide to you will not be static and mundane; they will be a breath of fresh air & art for your walls. Our style is anything but 'templateish', however we are the type to walk beside you from the day of your engagement all the way to the finish of your last dance. And maybe, just maybe, our circle of friends will continue to grow. We feel very blessed to have the talent, education and skills to carry out our dream. A Little Bit About Marie Powell... Marie found her passion for weddings in college, shooting with her photography professor at Old Dominion University. Shortly after receiving her Bachelors degree, she opened her own photography studio, shooting both domestically and internationally. As fate would have it, Marie relocated to Roanoke, Virginia. While searching for someone to process and print her black & white,(she is very picky about her b&w!) Marie happened to walk into Justin's lab. After a few years of building a professional relationship, Marie could resist no more. The two were married in the Fall of 2006. It has been ten years since photographing her first wedding and she still loves being around the excitement and the love of couples on the happiest day of their lives. Marie's photographic passion has given her another way to not only witness these amazing moments, but to capture the unforgettable memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. A Little Bit About Justin Powell... Photography has always been a passion for Justin. He grew up in an artistic home with a father who was a professional photographer, and was inspired to find his own artistic voice. While away at University, Justin studied all mediums of Fine Art , from drawing and painting, to sculpture and computer design. Justin worked for a Professional Photographic Lab as the Darkroom Specialist and Professional Production Supervisor for eight years, thus allowing him to continue with the passion he developed in school. While there, he began shooting free-lance photojournalism assignments and in the process, met Marie. They began shooting weddings together in 2001 under Marie's business. He soon realized that working together was only the beginning. Justin and Marie married in 2006 in an intimate ceremony on the beach and d'Artisti was born. Through photography, Justin has been able to capture the places and people who have changed his life. His style compliments Marie's; leaving you with lasting images that will captivate, inspire, and amaze you. So, enough about us, let's hear about you. Thank you for stopping by for a visit.
